HD Controllers not quite working...
I just built a new system with the ASUS P5GDC-V Deluxe mobo. There are three HD controllers on it:
1 Primary IDE controller 2 RAID Controllers This is IMPORTANT to understand: The 2 RAID controllers take standard IDE cables and are set by default to be standard IDE controllers. There is a setting in the BIOS to turn these into RAID controllers. I do NOT want to use these as RAID controllers, so I've left them set to IDE. Now, I have two drives on the Primary IDE controller and they both are recognized by the BIOS and work fine. I have one DVD drive on the first RAID controller, and one hard drive on the second RAID controller. Both are set to Master and both are on the first connection on the cable. When I boot up there's a quick screen that says something like, "Wait while IDE is detected". It then lists the two drives on the RIAD controllers (IDE0, and IDE2, I believe). But, when I go into the BIOS they are not recognized. Nor are they recognized in Windows. This has been driving me nuts. I do know that the DVD and the HD that aren't being recognized HAVE been recognized when they were connected as Slaves on the primary IDE controller. So, it appears it has something to do with using these RAID controllers, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is... I've triple checked the BIOS setting and those controllers are definitely set to IDE, not RAID. And then there's that quick screen where they seem to be detected?? It's strange. If anyone has experience with this mobo, or something similar, can you please let me know what to do? Can I call ASUS for support on this? Thanks for the help!! Eddie |

You have to install the controller drivers. Those are not controllers native to the Intel chipset, they are controlled by a separate chip.
