temp of cpu

i know this question is kinda dum but how do i tell the temp of my cpu, i have a abit av8 uguru and a amd3500.

I don't know if this supports your board, but it probably does. It won't hurt anything if you try it, and it's great.

well my buids not dome yet i was just wondering becuase i want to know if it is getten to hott just in case. my mother board has a little screen on it i think that tell the temp i am not shure gotta read the manaul again

You should be able to check it within your BIOS.

this is kinda sad but how do u get into the bois. my friend is helping me with most of my build, and the only computer i have ever built before was a pentum 1 so i dont know that much about computers

Delete, F1, F2, F12, CTRL, and TAB Depends on what motherboard you have really... Try those. Do you not see any options upon startup while you computer is posting?

will it shut off if it overheats? i herd p4s do but do amds

Yes, it should. Most good motherboards will shutdown if the CPU temps goes to high.

Actually, P4s don't shutdown, they slow themselves down automagically to reduce temps if temps reach a certain trigger point.

Temp of CPU

You can download temperature monitor software for your motherboard and the case temperature of your computer called Motherboard Monitor. I use it because it gives real time temps without going to bios to get the readings. It is a free download at: http://mbm.livewiredev.com/.
