HDD / DVD problems
I took an old harddrive from an old computer and put it in my new computer. now, my DVD drive isn't working or showing up. Here's what I did:
1. i put the new [old] HD on the bus my old [existing] HD is on. turned it on, and windows 95 started up (the OS on the new [old] HD). Had a quick laugh, turned it off 2. i put the new [old] HD on the bus my DVD drive is on. XP started up, formated the new [old] HD. 3. nothing happens when i put a CD / DVD in the DVD drive (its a combo drive). DVD drive doesn't show up in device manager, and couldn't be found with install new hardware. i'm sure there's something i've missed... please help! |

Check your cabling and jumpering. If you are using 80 wire Ultra ATA cables, use CS, if you are using standard 40 wire IDE, use master/slave.
