Swapping from an eclosured HDD to a HDD of a Laptop

I am planning to change my 20 Fujitsu GB Hard Drive in my notebook PC to an enclosured 2.5" 40 GB Hitachi Hard Drive. I have cloned my 20 gb to the 40 GB. My notebook PC is a Compaq Presario 1500 Series. I compared using AIDA32 the two HDDs and both are almost the same in specs. RPM, Bandwidth etc.., The only difference is the brand name and capacity and number of disks(Only 1 for Fujitsu, 2 for Hitachi)

My questions are:
1. Will it boot properly? I have used Norton Ghost 2003 to clone my HDD.
2. Can I use a Hitachi HDD for my Compaq PC without any troubles. Hitachi is commonly used for IBMs(Travelstar) right?
3. Will it be possible? When I bought the external HHD its already enclosured. Did not buy it separately(Enclosure and HDD).

Thank you in advance for your help. Im really running out of space and need to upgrade immediately. Thanks.

Why did you buy an external drive? You need a bigger internal drive. Laptop drives are pretty much universal these days.

Its not really an external hard disk. Its internal but is inside an enclosure. The connection is USB 2.0. The price was too low compared to an internal laptop drive. about a quarter less the price of an internal drive. What do you thing GLC. Is it possible?

No reason why it shouldn't work other than if your system doesn't recognize 40GB properly... you should be able to just swap and go.

If you did an exact clone, just swap drives. I upgrade notebook drives all the time this way with my USB external housing. I thought you had a prebuilt external drive there, sorry for the confusion.
