Buying A Computer Case?

Here's an interesting case article: "When Will Ugly Computer Cases Disappear?"

I've noticed this too. Anybody seen those Cotytech cases? *vomits* Lately though, it seems like there have been cases coming out that satisfy the catagories of sleek, and premods. These are where I am at right now. I like something that I can show off, but not so blank you have to be a god with a dremel to get something like a final project out of it. For example, I love the CM Stacker, but it is a bit too bland for me. Some people complain that TT only rips off other company's designs. I notice they take the best from every company and make it better. For example, I think the silver Kandolf case from Thermaltake (Kandolf and Armor are Thermaltake's answer to the stacker) is one of the most graceful looking cases ever made, and it also looks like it could kick your ass at the same time.

This is what I mean when I suggest that new builders pick a case they like instead of having us suggest which case to use...looking at the Kandolf case just now I think it's a ugly looking case and would never use it. But you think it's a good looking case. To each his own.

I can't stand pre-modded cases...many are completely idiotic looking to me...especially those cases by MGE. But that's only my opinion. I prefer to use plain beige cases.

Yeah those were the ones. Just a quick reminder : http://usa.asus.com/products/pccompo...ento3600_l.jpg

No offense to whoever likes them of course I like my cases simple, I'm not too fond of windows and flashy lights (I was actually a bit disappointed when I saw my case had 2 front blue LEDS. I tried them a couple of days but disconnected them shortly after )

Ahhh That Asus case is hidious! I like a sleek aluminum case like my CoolerMaster. No flashy lights, no windows, no LED fans, no need to see the inside, and NO plastic. My case has a blue power LED on the front but that is it. About the flashiest case that I like is the WaveMaster Blue. That is a nice case.

i read you loud and clear. my Lian Li PC-60 is quite the pice of work. the quality is bar none. none of the panels or parts put up any kind of fight when i remove or replace them. it all goes together very smooth no problem at all. id take a Lian Li or Coolermaster any day of the week.

They make very nice cases indeed. Silverstone is also a brand I like.

The P-60 looks very nice. I've always liked Lian-Li cases. If/when I build my "monster" this year it will probably go into either a WaveMaster Blue or CoolerMaster Preatorian. I've wanted a Preatorian since the first time I saw it.

Heh, me too. The problem is it costs more than my case with PSU included, and PSU's are pretty expensive in Belgium (€80 for a ~400W one, that's more than a $100 I think). I didnt want to pay around $230 for a case and PSU alone So I ended up with my Sonata case, which is all in all not that bad. Not much space to work with, but it keeps my system nice and cool, even allows some overclocking

It's supposed to be a silent case, but something in there is still makin too much noise to my liking. When I have more time I'm going to see if it's the PSU and I might save up for a Zalman 400W PSU, they're supposed to be really quiet, and good quality.

Yeah I'm a silence nut too. The only thing I can hear is the faint whine of the hard drive. I have a Speeze WhisperRockII CPU cooler which is totaly silent. My Enlight 360w is completely silent as are my Enermax case fans. I have even replaced my video card cooler with a Zalman fanless model.

I like my cases simple atm.... maybe once I have more time I may fiddle around with one making it flashy and nice
But in answer Crickets initial question: They never will for the simple reason that some people will use an ugly case for the same reason people drive ugly cars... because it draws comments and gets attention

Holy Mackerel, just saw that ASUS offering... it looks more like a vacuum cleaner than a computer case. That is possibly the most horrible computer accessory I have EVER seen
