hard drive not working
So I'm trying to help a buddy recover some data off his hard drive that failed...I put it in my computer but when I boot it just makes a lot of noise and the bios doesn't detect the drive at all. Does this mean it's probably useless?
The drive was working before, to an extent, but the system wouldn't boot because of a file system error. I tried running chkdsk off recovery console but it failed about halfway through and after that, nothing. Is there any chance of accessing the files?

Not likely unless U have some very sophisticated data recovery equipment or want to pay a company that does that a pretty good sum to do it for U..
