Cpu Vs Ram Question
Ok say I get a AMD Athlon Socket A, 1300 Mhz with a FSB of 200mhz..
What type of Ram do I need. I have pc100,Pc100 and 133 is to slow and yet DDR 2100(266mhz) is to fast by 66mhz so what would be the better ram ? |

You can only put in the type of ram that your motherboard supports, it is not dependant on the processor but the memory slots and type available on your particular motherboard. Chances are that you will have to upgrade your whole motherboard to go to DDR RAM..

It's really not quite as you guys are thinking. The processer has way more things to do than just read and write to memory, so it is good that is is essentially clocked faster than the memory, also everything rides the bus so thats why there are buffers to hold the overflow of data. Your system was not locking up just cause you only had PC100 memory. Ther are many many more issues going on inside your PC other than just processor and memory..
