Help! Everything connected right and nothing :(

Hey pc professionals !
I bought a new case, ram, cpu (link) http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...112-186&depa=1
and motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...121-261&depa=0
mounted everything into a new case and powered it up.
everything seemed fine : boots up ok I guess but it stops later and displays this message: Sorry for the incovenience but Windows .... stoped functioning.... (or something like that) choose one:
Start in Safe mode
Start command prompt
start with networking
Go to last know good configuration
start windows normally
Sorry I don't remember exactly but you get a point...
I tried everything but it only displays mobo logo and goes back to this screen What should I do?
Maybe it has something to do with the cd that came with mobo
"Intel Express Installer CD" I tried to boot off it but nothing happened (I checked everything in bios)
How should I troubleshoot this?

start testing the hardware, run memtest 86, to see if memory is bad, start with that and report back

Confirm your bios is version P02 or greater. Version P01 is not compatible with a Celeron-D.

The Express Installer CD is not bootable. You are supposed to put it in immediately after installing Windows and let it autorun - it will install the needed drivers.

EDIT: Did you use a hard drive from another computer with XP already installed? If so, you need to do a repair reinstall of Windows.

I did mem86 test like you said king. It found no errors.
It looks like hardware is ok since it boots. Correct me if I'm wrong.

glc-I didn't buy a new hd, I used the old one that was in pc previously.(I never made a new install of windows)
I also tried 2 different hard drives from 2 other machines (of course with os on them) -- xp pro to try to boot off them. Wester digital showed "ntldr is missing", and Maxtor showed exactly the same screen as I have problem with right now.
Bios version is PO3.
What do you mean by "you need to do a repair reinstall of Windows" ?
Maybe I have to change something in bios?
Or format the hd in this system and reinstall xp?

Boot from the XP cdrom and go all the way like your going to install XP and it will ask first search the harddrive and ask you if you want to repair the existing XP installation?? Choose yes and that will fix things up for you, you'll have to reactivate though and may need to work a few bugs out, like printer..

Hey!
I boot off of my windows xp cd and it installed a few drivers and then asked whether I want to repair or load new windows. I chose repair and it got me to command prompt and asked me with which repair console I want to repair it.
Since I only had 2 choices
( 1: C:/WINDOWS) or
Enter to Cancel
I hit "1" so it asked me for administrator password which I don't have so I hit Enter and C:/WINDOWS command appeared and that's it
Maybe you guys know how to take it from here. What command should I type?

Btw I took an old hd with 98se OS(10gb) on it and decided to make a fresh install of xp but suprisingly the Windows "almost" loaded (blue Windows logo showed up) but there's a Warning that pops up.
Your CPU is overheating, Your fan might have failed. Windows is shutting down to prevent system damage.
How come I never got this massage on windows xp hard drives?
Fan works, and Cpu doesn't seem to be overheating
Is it really my Cpu or is it stupid 98?

no you want to load a new version of windows, after you hit enter to load a fresh copy of windows it will ask you to hit f8 to agree to the license and then it will search for an existing copy of windows, once it finds it you can hit r to repair it without entering an admin password

yeah i know, but with him getting a prompt for an admin password he went through the repair console instead

I loaded a fresh copy of Windows and it repaired everything keeping my old files untouched!!!! You guys saved my life . Come to Chicago and I shall serve you a beer.
Lets recap everything so we can all learn from this.
If you change a motherboard in your pc you might need to repair your hard drive (using OS cd) so it's compatible with your new mobo.(please correct me if it's wrong conlusion)

But I still don't understand one thing. How do you explain this?

yeah that is weird if your bios temps are ok and you try a program like motherboard monitor 5 (MBM5) and they are showing temps to be ok then i would not pay to much attention to it but i could not tell you for sure why that is happening

I have one more minor problem. Windows starts kind of slow. Before I had new components everything was fast and now it takes like 3 minutes to load. After WindowsXP Pro. logo, there's another screen that says "Windows is starting..."
this is where it takes forever, but after that when os is loaded it goes fast - I can tell the difference with new cpu it's much faster.
It's probably not the fault of hardware. Right?
Would the new install of xp (format) help?

Yes it would
, cause now you still have residual things in there from old system. You could probably do a bit of tweaking though to clean things up a bit.. 1 thing to look for is, do you have a NIC card installed and are U using it?? One of the things that take the longest on bootup is if U have a NIC card and are set to obtain IP address automatically but are not really using it, cause it will try for quite some time searching for DHCP server so windows can obtain an IP address but if there isn't one to be found then finally windows assigns a default one. This can be quite the time consuming thing upon bootup. I actually disable in the BIOS everything I'm not using, like parallel and serial ports, and personally I see no good reason the use DHCP on a small home network, so I have all the PC's here static assigned IP addresses, that way I can identify who is who and don't waste time on bootup searching for DHCP server...
