RAM in BIOS, Soltek-939
I want to overclock my AMD 3000+ winchester on the Soltek-k8t8 Pro. I want to spend about $45 on a 512 stick of RAM I've read a bit about the RAM ratio and understand that its possible to raise the cock speed(FSB) while lowing the ratio in order float the RAM speed while increasing cpu speed. With stock cooling, I figure I'd be able to push the CPU harder than the RAM, so I ask..How much configurability is there with making RAM float? On page three of this review it looks like you can enter a cap RAM speed that the bios will maintain i guess through its own arithemetic.
If the RAM will seriously hold back any Ocing to a respectable degree then I could go up to $70 RAM but I don't know what RAM to get at this price.
BTW I've never OCed, never even built a computer - my background consists only of reading.
