Odd USB and Firewire problem

Just recently my front USB ports stopped recognizing devices that were plugged in - the ports work fine - just no pop-up. The rear USB ports seem fine. Now my rear firewire port doesn't seem to be working propoerly. I have an iPod connected and it charges OK, but iTunes does not "see" the iPod any more. It is also not listed in the hardware display.

Are these problems related - and more importantly, any suggestions for a fix?

my mobo is Asus A8N SLI Delux.

Thanks

Did you make any changes to the system prior to the USB ports and firewire ports to not work? Try reinstalling your USB and Firewire drivers.

Thanks for reply

No changes made to hardware. Dont beleive Asus provided any drivers for the USB or Firewire.

What about software, did you recently install/uninstall anything? What OS are you running? Your OS CD might have drivers for it. If not, you'll need to download the drivers.

Drivers for USB and FireWire are native to WinXP (already in WinXP's driver database...no need for separate drivers).

chris935: You might want to check the Microsoft Knowledge Base to see if this is an issue with Windows.
