Connection Front Audio connectors
I am building a new PC and I have got to a stop connecting the front Audio wires.
The MOBO is a Gigabyte 7VT600P-RZ(-C) The Case is a cheap one from E-buyer The wires coming out from the case to connect the Front Audio are MIC IN GND L OUT L IN MIC BIAS GRD R OUT R IN This is the setup on my MOBO (If you want to use Front Audio connector, you must remove 5-6, 9-10 jumpers (I HAVE DONE THAT). In order to utilise the front audio header, your chasis must have front audio connector. Also please make sure the pin assignment on the cable is the same as the pin assignment on the MOBO header, To find out if the chassis you are buying support front audio connector, please contact your dealer. Please note, you can have the alternative of using front audio connector or of using rear audio connector to play sound. Pin No. Definition 1 MIC 2 GND 3 REF 4 POWER 5 FRONT AUDIO (R) 6 REAR AUDIO (R) 7 RESERVED 8 NO PIN 9 FRONT AUDIO (L) 10 REAR AUDIO (L) Any help would be appreciated as I am not too sure what to do and I don't wont to damage my system of course. Thanks in advance. JC Last edited by jeannot18; 04-07-2005 at 12:57 PM. |

MIC In would go with MIC.
GND would go with GND. L OUT ... I don't know... L IN would go with Front Audio (L) MIC BIAS ... I don't know... GRD don't plug it in R Out ... I don't know... but would be near L OUT R IN would go with Fron Audio (R) I recently did mine too, and didn't plug some of the cables in, and it works fine. |

Do you have the motherboard manual? If not, you can go to the motherboard's website and download the manual in PDF format.

I have connected the Mic In to Mic; L IN to Rear audio R, L Out to Rear audio L, Gnd to ground and left everything else out.
It does not work, problem is that i am running Linux on this box (my first time) and I am still looking into it) JC |

Try connecting the CASE wires as follows:
mic in to power - pin 4 mic grnd to grnd - pin 2 L out to front audio L - pin 9 L in to front audio R - pin 5 R out to rear audio L - pin10 R in to rear audio R - pin 6 mic bias to mic - pin 1 the grnd wire for audio does not need to be connected leave it out. Do not have the same mobo but have fitted many others and cases, it would be a lot easier if I were looking at it, it does sound an odd one. Also remove all the jumpers first. good luck let us know how you got on. |
