It might be possible:

"The Triton VX (Official name 82430VX) was a version of Intel's Triton processor[?] chip set with all the features of the Triton I[?] plus support for SDRAM, USB, and a UMA[?] option."

http://www.eurofreehost.com/82/82430VX.html

A few of those old mobos would let you mix the two diferent type of ram but most won't.

Lift the cover off the pc and see if you have two distinct different types of ram slots.

You'll need the manual for the proper jumper settings.

If it's a VX, it MAY have one DIMM slot, which will accept up to a 64mb module of PC-66 SDRAM. PC-100 or 133 will NOT work. The EDO SIMMS may have to be removed.

If you could give me the exact model Packard Bell, I can be more detailed as to what you can and cannot do.

The model is a Packard Bell "Multimedia S605". It does have two dimm slots...both presently occupied with the EDO rimms...I do not see any other ram slots...does that tell me that I cannot upgrade to SDRAM??

If so, is it worth it to try to find some EDO ram and upgrade that way. Is EDO ram even available still?

BTW: there is USB onboard.

Kinda nice how they did that....

I craked an old IBM and saw Sdram in it....It was pc-66

It looks physically the same except one notch is moved a 1/16 on an inch...

weird was that the ic's were on sideways instead of up and down....one stick is single sided while the other is double-sided....
