What operating system are you using?

If you find another Socket 370 motherboard with the same chipset you might be able to just swap the motherboards, reconnect everything and just start your computer up and go.

But let us know which operating system you're using.

You can replace it with *any* motherboard and worst case will be a repair reinstall of XP. You won't lose anything except Windows updates applied since the initial install.

It's not the hard drive that won't like it, it's the operating system that might choke on the changes. But there are things you can do to make the switch over work. Depends on the OS in use.

But if the new motherboard is using the same chipset as the old motherboard, the switch over might go without any problems. I swapped out a EPoX i815EP motherboard with a ASUS i815EP motherboard last year and WinXP started up like nothing happened.
