I have a DELL Inspiron 8100 laptop. When I got the computer used, it was very slow. So I tried reinstalling XP and reformatting. The install process was very slow but it finally got done. Now the boot up and general usage is still very slow. I mean really slow. Do you have any ideas on what might be making it so slow?
I have already tried adding another stick of RAM (512) + the original 256 and it did nothing to the speed (that is what really gets me). Here are some specs on it: 1-GHz/733-MHz Pentium III-M, 256MB of RAM, 512KB L2 cache, was Windows 2000; now XP after the upgrade, 15-inch active-matrix screen, NVidia GeForce2 Go graphics with 16MB of DDR SDRAM, 20GB hard drive Last edited by bjackso1; 06-10-2005 at 10:36 AM. |

Why don't you just put Win2000 back on it? That's what it was designed for.
