Is my flash drive dead?
well this morning I was on someone elses comp using my flash drive. The comp froze up and the computer was then shut down. it wouldnt shut down or restart so it was forced off. When I pulled my drive from the comp and tried to use it on another comp it was being read as a disk drive. If I click on the drive it tells me to insert a disk..into a freaking flash drive. anyway, Ive tried on several comps and they all do the same thing. I need help. its a 2gb sony micro vault if it helps. I hope that someone can help me it doesnt even weigh enough to be a paper weight.
Thanx Don |

tried that....it tells me that i need to insert a disk into the drive. For some reson it reads it as a floppy drive. I need for the it to read as a flash drive before I can format it

This is not "user friendly" but if someone around you is running Linux you may have a way to get your flash drive back.
Read through this : http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8366 Take a deep breath and remember that it only looks awful the first time you go over it. Drop the steps you don't need (You're not burning your Quicken files to a cd, right?) and see if you can use anything that's left.
