Question Can I do this???

I didn't know where to put this, it's kind of both a drive question and an os question. Ok, so heres what I would like to do. I am building a new pc and gutting my old one for some parts. I am running my os on a relatively small hard drive and I have a very large one for stroage. What I would like to do when I build is move andy of my important files from the large drive to the smaller one, format the larger one, and install it and put my os on the large. Now here is my question: Once I have the os on the large drive and I have it in the master position, can I place the smaller in the slave position? I am wondering if the os that would still be on the smaller drive would cause any problems. I would like to then move my important data to the larger drive, and chuck the small one in a drawer or something. Will this work out the way I think/hope it will? Is there an easier way to do it that would not involve expesive software or something? Thanks!

Should work like a charm. Make sure you make the smaller drive "slave." Waiting to hook it up after the new OS install is the way to go.
