I installed an Intel P4 the other day and when I put the heatsink in, it was hard to press down the four latches into the mobo. I got three to click in, but the fourth was hard. I thought I was going to crack the board from pressing so hard. Is this normal?
Also, what is the normal running temp that I should be seeing in BIOS with stock heatsink and fan? I am seeing around 50 degrees Celsius. Thanks! |

And yes. There is usually a pretty stiff resistance when installing the heat sink fan. kram

Mine runs at 45c (P4 3G prescott) and yes they are hard to snap in and thats why it's better to do the processor and heat sink fan to the motherboard before you mount the board into the case...

It is a Prescott core, 3.0G. Thanks for the info about the heatsink install. You've made me feel a lot better.
Thanks! AG4SM |
