Athlon64 temperature
I have an Athlon 64 processor and have recently bought a new Arctic cooling fan and heatsink.
It is now running at around 49 degrees at all times is this right? The fan actually slows down at times and even stops but the temperature stays the same is this supposed to do this? Thanks in advance for your replies. |

![]() I do know that AMD Athlon 64 series utilize a dynamic clockspeed adjustment "Cool'n Quiet", which'll downclock the CPU whenever the full speed is not utilized - but the fan stopping? That doesn't sound right even if the system is running stable - can you post your full sys specs? As well, where are you getting that 49C temperature? The BIOS? kram

I have an ASUS K8VSE motherboard and an Athlon 64 3gig pro.I have 1 gig of ddr 400 memory.I am geting the readings from the ASUSprobe program which comes with the motherboard. When i visited the website of the heatsink it does say it may slow down or stop and i have to disable the fan speed monitor on my BIOS.HAs anyone heard of this?My heart did stop when i first installed it onto my pc and watched the fan just STOP!!!!but as i say the asusprobe temp never goes above 50 degrees.

You can turn off Cool & Quiet in your bios if seeing your CPU fan turning off is freaking you out. Cool and Quiet has other problems relating to overclocking. Cool and Quiet was doing almost nothing towards running my computer any quieter. I turned mine off before I went the watercooling route.
