external enclosure

anyone know a good external hdd external enclosure that can run none stop? i own 5 external enclosure already, 4 quick-serv and 1 generic. but since my last purchase on two QUICK SERV enclosure and one of them broke accidently leave me in believe they are cheaply made in china. the generic one is fine but heat build up is a problem. i also seen the metal gear box:substance case and read review of it, many suggest its not a good case. its there any thing out there that look close to the maxtor one touch 2 enclosure? thanks in advance.

glc recommended apricorn enclosures to me. They were a little out of my price range. shop around at newegg, SVC, and for the apricorn enclosures, glc always has good advice on these kinda things. i picked up one from svc for little below 30 bucks. its a bytecc, they are supposed to be good also, but not quite up to apricorn enclosures. The one i ordered, i made sure to get a fan on it, because in an enclosed environment like this with no air blowing in, a drive can get hot and not perform as well. since sunday nothign ships and today is the 4th, i wont be getting it till late this week, ill tell you how its working then...ill backup dvds onto it for a few hours and see if it gets hot...and from the pic online it looks REAL sweet, sometimes with that though u end up disappointed. ill see when it gets here.

Apricorn makes the highest quality enclosures I've seen yet. They are aluminum and have a good fan in them. They are NOT cheap, but they come with excellent value added software, it appears to be a rebranded version of Acronis True Image.

Newegg sometimes has them, hit and miss. Discounts can be found at other vendors.

haven't tried them, but some of them looked really nice to me. wit these enclosures, it seems sometimes that the simpler looking ones are better to me--just a basic box type. kingwin had stackable ones with fans, that i was interested in till i ordered this one.
