overclocking and ur warranty

so how does the company actually know if you overclocked ur cpu? every one says that it will void ur warranty but can some one tell me how they company really could know if you did or not? i could understand if the cpu was black and burnt then yeah it would be obvious but if it looks as if it did the first day do they have some way to test or something?

If you have to ask, maybe you should not be overclocking. If you overclock, you must be prepared to pay for replacing fried parts. Overclocking is a hobby, not a way to save money.

i ask out of curiosity not because i fryed anything i was just wondering. n as a matter of saving money that has nothing 2 do with it ( quality comes at a price).

P.S: why is that a reason i should not be overclocking ? because i want 2 know.

CPU's dont just burn up for no good reason. Usually someone has overclocked it or there was a HSF problem. I think you would have to prove there was a HSF problem before they would honor the warranty. I am just speculating, but this makes perfect sense. Perhaps someone else has experience at trying to replace a burned up CPU under warranty?
