Do you need a special lga motherboard to run intel's dual core series? How about a special mb for amd's dual core series? Any special chipsets?

Thanks in advance!

Intel Pentium D & Pentium EE require the express 945 or 955 chipset.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 require the nForce4 chipset - not sure about nForce3.

From what I have read, and thats not a lot, AMD dual core chips will run with 939 pin motherboards like ASUS A8N-SLI Delux which is AMD's argument for the higher price of the new DC chip, you won't have to buy both. Intel DC chips need a compatable mobo so you need to buy both, though the price of their DC chips are a lot less. Be warned though as I have also read that when directly questioned Intel's rep admitted that their new DC chips have anti copying technology imbeded so the odd copy of a CD for the car player etc may not be as easy as before, though he would not go into details of how the technology works aside to say that copyright protection is moving to a hardware solution rather than software one and the implication was that software alone will not negate the new technology. This is something that will not bother me, however I think it unfair that they have not been more up front about the new adition to the DC chip's.

It doesn't matter about the copy prevention embedded, the OS still doesn't enforce it anyway and by the time the OS does all processors will have it. Until the OS enforces it its just sitting there idle.
