MX700 Batteries

I've had the MX700 duo for a few months now and was just wondering how long do the batteries on the mouse last...not how many hours, but do they last for months? years?...how many times can they be recharged I guess should be the question.

Now, if the batteries that are included with the mouse no longer hold charge can they be replaced with any reachargeable batteries and still be placed on the base/charger?

I've had my MX700 for almost 2 years and the batteries that came with it are still good, granted I also use rechargeable batteries in my keyboards, remotes and other things so they've been rotated in and out of the mouse and other things during this time, but are still going. You can use other rechargeable batteries as long as they are NiMH.
