fan controller ?'s
just a few of them--
1.) How come when i turn the fans down they wont go totally off? 2.) When i first plugged it in, it was on a molex that was split for CC's too, and when i moved the case a little the controller would shut off, now i moved it to a different molex (took out a HDD after installing the controller) and it works fine...was my psu overloaded before removing the hdd, or were there just too many things on one molex? 3.) i possibly will be controlling my rear PCI slot fan, but this has a full molex connector instead of 3 pin fan. i have quite a few extra 12" fan extenders as the controller came with some and i bought extras because i didnt know it came with them. if i clip the end off one, strip those wires, and strip the two wires from the fan, can i attach it to a 3 pin? i know which wires to connect, just dont know enough about voltages, etc, to know if this is safe. 4.) is it safe to conrol my HSF with this? it DOES have one of the pass thru connectors so that asus utility could still montor it via the yellow wire, it just seems that this is one of the louder fans in my system. thanks!

1)What controler is it? Some dont turn the fans all the way off.
2) Its possible that the molex's werent plugged in all the way or sometimes the pins are a little loose and can do that to you. If the psu was overloaded its not possible for 1 thing on a string of molex's to shut off as everthing on that line would. 3) Clip the molex off, take the black hook it to the black on the 3 pin, take the red hook it to the red on the 3 pin. 4) As long as you watch temps to see how low you can go before the cpu starts to get a little on the hot side, yes its safe. ~Frank

Thanks for the help, didnt realize u replied it didnt show up in my user cp...well some of these problems kinda worked themselves out... Its an Aerogate I by coolermaster i just used a molex splitter, one going to the fan controller, one to my two CC kits, works great. i think the two molexes i was trying to use together (one m and one f) to get power to the fan controller were both a little bit off so they kept kinda slipping out or something. works now though the PCI slot fan i might get rid of. temps are down enough with the new fans that i dont really need it, though it did work good it made ALOT of noise and unfortunately unless i get another fan controller i dont have room to control it. might figure out which of my fans is most "silent" though and just take that one off the controller to put the PCI slot back in. |
