Im going for a fairly good gaming machine with PCI Express, SATA, and an nVidia Chipset with 939 socket. I searched around and found this board: A8N-SLI Deluxe I was wondering if 2 PCI Express x16 slots were nessessary. Does this put the price up on the board? They are in Canadian prices btw. Is there any special hardware I would need that isn't included with the board ie. cables, wires, adaptors, etc. You thoughts on this mother board... Thanks
BTW is the only difference between this board and This Board the dual gigabit LAN, becuase I would only need one. Last edited by Two|Bit; 07-14-2005 at 07:55 PM. |

if you plan on running 2 video cards in SLI, thats what you need. if you plan on using only one video card, just get the AN8 Ultra.

Is it a big proformance increase? Do i need to have 2 vid cards to run it? Down the road could I put in an extra card when my system is showing its age? Btw did you spell that motherboard's name correctly?

SLI requires 2 identical Geforce video cards....and alot of games dont support SLI unless theyre coded for it. if you want to run 2 video cards..id wait for ATIs Crossfire technology....it runs out of the box and doesnt need any special code to be utilized. the only thing is that it will only work with an ATI based motherboard chipset. you could just run one card on that board if you want, but what would be the use of adding another a year or 2 down the road? youll be missing shaders and other eyecandy you would otherwise see on a new video card.

thats alot of money for that board. the one i linked to is better...has the better chipset of the 2. other than the higher price and the chipset difference...theyre both almost the same board.

So with the rebate that board that you suggested is about $50 more. Is the "Ultra" chipset worth $50?

Yeah I was sorta expecting the rebate to be a way of suckering you into buying it quickly...they probably say "Last night for rebate" every night...
Thanks for your help Tin. |
