Exclamation Safely remove HD???!!!

Hi Guys,

My problem is this... I just completed my first build for my grandma, w/ an ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe, and a 10k WD Raptor. Everything has gone smoothly up till now, however, there is a "safely remove hardware" icon on the taskbar, that gives me the option to remove my HD. Everything works just fine, tho im sorta worried that someone else who uses this computer (Grandma), will try tp safely remove the HD. I have no idea of how to get rid of this, and DESPERATELY need help.

Welcome to PC Mech forums

Interesting how the "safely remove HDD" comes up - Serial ATA drives are hot swappable. What message does it give you in the icon - in other words, what does the "safely remove hardware" say exactly?

That's normal and not really a problem. Don't worry about it. If someone does accidentally "remove" the SATA drive, a reboot will bring everything back to normal. But I'm guessing that if the SATA is the main boot drive Windows won't allow it to be removed anyway.

Thx, but is there anyway to remove it???

Is there anyway to remove it? At startup, it loads a black screen, which says: press f4 to set up raid. I think it adds unnecessary boot time, and could that have anything to do with the safely remove thing???

Nope, one has nothing to do with the other. What you might try is to enter BIOS and disable the RAID controllers. That may help speed up the bootup time.
