New build: won't post?

Hi all,

I've purchased some components to build a standard spec computer for my mother. However, i've assembled everything and it doesn't seem to post... i've swapped the following around with a different computer:

• Ram
• HDD
• Graphics

and all have worked. When turning the system on, the fans power up and the case LED's light so i'm guessing the motherboard 'works'? My only assumption is that the processor was DOA (dead on arrival).

Should the PC post (beep) when switching on even if the processor was dead?

Your help would be greatly appreciated because as you can imagine, this has left me in a difficult position. Below are the core components i'm using (plus hdd):

• Radeon 9250 256mb Ddr - Agp8x Dvi/tvo
• Crucial CT6464Z40B 512MB DDR 400MHz PC3200 CL=3 Memory Module
• PC Chips M848ALU SKT A SIS 748 400 DDR AGP 8x ATA133 6Ch
• Sound/LAN/USB 2.0 for Athlon or Sempron CPUs
• AMD Sempron 2500+ (SDA2500BOX) Processor Skt A 256KB Cache FSB333 Retail boxed with 3 year warranty
• Western Digital Caviar 80Gb 7200rpm EIDE Hard Drive - OEM
