Reformating a laptop.
I just got my laptop working and now I want to reformat the HD and get rid of windows 98 and install mandrake. My problem is that I cant figure out a way to reformat the drive. I tried looking for a cable that could connect the notebook HD to my desktop but I cant find one. Is there anyway to do this? Could I possibly boot from a LAN? I would like to do this with out ordering anything because I want to get this done this weekend. TIA.

If you just want to install Mandrake reformatting is unneccessary. Just put the Mandrake CD in and make sure the laptop is set to boot from CD first and it will partition and format the drive for you. Just remember that it will erase all the data on the drive.

i would follow travis advice, but if you still want to throw your laptop drive into the desktop then you will need something like this:
