and who would this mike be.
You don't need to have updated drivers for your hard drive. Just use the ones that windows has.

he is a mate of mine who is updating to XP and it dose not have sufficent drivers for his hdd and gives him a BSOD during setup

Thare are no 3rd party hard drive drivers. Windows uses standard builtin drivers. Maybe you need to be more specific - do you need controller drivers?

Okay - let's go back to the original thread. I'm closing this one. That article is referring to drivers in general, possibly the controller drivers, but not hard drive drivers.
