Ide Is Set To Pio And Wont Go Back To Dma

I have been having problems with my dvd drive, it is set to pio and I have went back to device manager several times and uninstalled and reboot. I have read alot of posts on this but it will not go back to dma. I was wondering, if I physically uninstalled, reboot, the install and reboot will that set it back?

Try updating the motherboard chipset drivers.

If you installed the Intel Application Accelerator, uninstall it.

If the above tips don't work, then yes, removing the drive and reinstalling it should. Note, however, that sometimes Windows will recognize that it is the same drive and not reset. What I do is remove the drive, install a different unit, then reinstall the original drive back in. Go immeditatley to Device Manager and set it up.

I would also like to mention that I got this dvd drive used and can not remember if it came with drivers, if it did, could this be the reason for my problems? I did a fresh format and let windows recognize this drive. thanks.

This drive was working perfect before the format

Found my problem. f12 on startup-->system startup> changed device 1 on secondary IDE from none to auto and it found it.
