Hd recovery Please help!
Hey hdd doctors!
![]() My brother wrote an essay and saved it using the name of the previously written essay.(a completely different one) So basically he overwrote the file. Is there any way to recover it? I have win xp and system restore didn't work for this. I remember that there might be a third-party utility to handle it. Is it true? plz help immediately, tx in advance |

This program is freeware : http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/filerecovery.html
The chances of this working depend on what your brother did with the computer after he overwrote the file.

Hey!
Thanks for your reply pam. I ran this program and also tried another one- DOC Regenerator. Both of them didn't help Is there any other powerful software or any method to retrieve this? He's got 48 hours to get it.I appreciate any, I repeat any help. |

Nope. It's overwritten if he used the same file name, maybe forensics can get it, but that costs hundreds of dollars and you won't get a 48 hour turnaround.
Hindsight is wonderful, but teach your brother how to use "save as" and how to do backups. If the computer has a CD or DVD burner, there's no excuse for not backing up personal files. |

I could say that all-nighters are a part of education but I doubt your brother would appreciate the wisdom.
Sorry, but he's staying up all-night for a re-write. glc called it. |
