Ever heard of an EVER psu?

My friend and I were discussing his new comp which is going to be a cheaper build that he is doing himself. I asked him what PSU he was going to use and he said that he had an old psu from an old P3 comp that his mom had used. I figured that wouldn't be a good idea, but I asked him to show it to me. The PSU is by the "Ever" brand and is 250w.

Has anyone ever heard of Ever before? I didn't notice it on the PSU ref. guide, and I was wondering if maybe it should be added in, but I wasn't sure if they had gone out of business, or been taken over by another company or something and thus not on the guide.

The Psu itself is about as the same weight as my Thermaltake and my Dell's PC P&C psu. It has ran fine since being originally installed in the P3 system.

So what's the verdict?

Is it from a dell or gateway or something. They usually put pretty good psu's in there computers. It would help if you could post the amerage ratings.

I'd say if it's got a bit of heft you should be alright... however, I'd still recommend using a newer PSU

What are the system specs of the computer he plans to assemble? 250 watts is okay for older PII and PIII computers but it's not powerful enough for anything faster than a P4 or Athlon XP.

It may or may not be quality, but does it have the required connectors for the new motherboard? Almost all current boards need an auxiliary 2x2 ATX+12v connector, and some require a 24 pin main ATX connector. I'm betting yours has just a 20 pin ATX with no aux connector. What motherboard are you building with?
