Well the other morning i got up and turned on my pc and it booted and fans came on but no picture on monitor. So i tried it a couple of more time by turning it off by power surge and still no picture after checking connections and plugging it into s video too. So then i take video card out after about three times of power surge offing. Plug vga cable into onboard graphics and nothing happens only green light on front comes on. The psu fan wont even kick on and the psu case seems to be getting warm after a few min. Should i take it to a local computer shop and let them try to fix it or buy a new psu first and see if the psu went out.

if the PSU fan isnt spinning thats a good sign that it is gone,i would try that first.they are pretty easy to install yourself.

Ok took most components off psu (except ram x 2 and kept hdd on power and cpu and fan) and still cant get a boot with fans for psu and cpu. So i know that psu is good because brand new and i get light on front still. What could be problem, should i just take to local shop and let them give it a diagnostic, but would hate to if i can fix myself. Please any replies would help.

Maybe more than one thing blew at once, happens alot, its like a dominoe effect.Does your VGA have a fan on it? Becuase if that was running when you said the computer kicked on then it most likely not our video card then. If its not running or if it wasnt before then theres a possibility, or even look closely at your motherboard and look for weird looking marks, one of your circuits could of blew causing only so much of your motherboard to proc. leaving you with somethings working and other things not.

The only thing i can get to work right now is the front led or power led. And it worked before so im not even sure that the old psu blew. I have looked and havent found any marks and no burnt smell(and i have smelt before actually put wrong ram in first emachine and didnt smeel good)Like i put i took graphics card out and wouldnt boot at all no fans only power led. Weird i think im gonna try the american way to fix things and beat it.lol.Any other suggestions will help too and will look more closely at board and take it out ...maybe?

Took mobo out yesterday and no signs of any burns marks anywhere. The only thing i can get out of the system is the front led(power led) and that wont come on if my pw switch isnt in the right place. I have also takin everything off except psu and fan and ram cards and still no power to cpu fan. Is there any way i can atleast get psu to turn on to know something works and this is a brand new Thermaltake 430 psu.

The only thing i can think that went wrong is the mobo someway.I have been looking up some new mobo's that would support my current processor and is microatx for my case. Coments on this board http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...355675&CatId=0 fits budget and looks like has everthing i would need.

Don't know if you've tried this, but be sure the memory is pushed all the way in. I just built a PC and this was the only problem that I had. The computer would turn on but no POST or anything going out to the monitor. I rechecked everything and one memory stick was up just a hair. Reseated and has worked fine since.

Yep have reseated everything except cpu dont really want to take it off but it shouldnt have changed anything. Only thing i can think of is that it is shorting somewhere so im gonna take everything out and try to do a table boot up but still not sure how to jump the pw switch and have read many post about it. Will try sometime this week. Keep suggestions coming please.

dude i just bought a brand new e-machine and i had the same problem, turned out to be the monitor.
Try a different monitor. I'm betting you have a flat screen lcd? That came with the PC?
