Dell Insprion 6000 Notebook - opinions?

I am in the market for a laptop and I really like the Dell I6000, especially with the discounts they offer. I can get an absolute top of the line system for $1300.

What do you guys think of this lap top? Someone suggested Acer to me, but the same system would cost over 2k.

I have a customer that just bought 4 of them for their outside salesmen. I set them all up and they are pretty nice. They aren't strong gamers (onboard Intel video standard, ATI X300 optional) but for a general use laptop they are hard to beat, the Pentium-M is a much better bet than the standard Celeron. The ones I set up have the onboard Intel video with the Pentium-M 730, 1 gig ram, and 60 gig hard drives.

That's good to hear. I'm going for the Pentium M 2.0 and the WSXGA screen and I am going to get the least amount of RAM from Dell and upgrade myself to 1 gig.

I've heard good things about the Inspiron 6000's for basic work on a laptop... if I were you I would recommend just buying the RAM straight from Dell at get go, you're causing yourself way too much hassle trying to upgrade proprietary RAM yourself, especially when you're buying new

Dell does use industry-standard DDRII RAM, and they drastically overcharge for RAM upgrades, so buying more meomory after the fact is not a bad idea (and something that many people do).

Dell's RAM is very high priced.
