ASUS A8N-E Update help
finished assembling my first build and I want (need?) to update my mobo.
on asus.com i see the following updates: 1) Version: V6.07.01 Description: ASUS Update V6.07.01 Install Program for Windows 2000/XP/2003 and for Windows 64bit XP/2003 2) Version: V2.00.68 Description: ASUS Ai Booster Utility V2.00.68 for Windows 2000/XP/2003 and Windows 64bit XP/2003 3)Version: 1006 OS: DOS Description: A8N-E Bios version 1006 Please do read the description before updating BIOS To avoid crashing file system, please do update the chipset driver to below version prior to this Bios. For WinXP 32bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.65 or later For WinXP 64bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.65 or later For Win2k/2003 32bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.66 or later For Win2003 64bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.66 or later 1. Fixed some Low-RPM CPU fans show 0 RPM in H/W Monitor when Q-fan Enabled 2. Fixed system will hang in memory test 2.09GB if Quick Boot disabled. 3. Change class code of SATA to fit new Driver (WHQL) if RAID is enabled. 4. Fixed K8 Vcore will set wrong value under AI-Booster. there are also some other versions (previous I guess) and some BETA ones. Should I just download and install everything? I have no idea what they are. Do I first have to run the installation disc that came with the mobo and then run the updates or can I just install the updates?

To get the utilities, which is what I think you want, ASUS lists them under their site, the AI booster allows you to over-clock and view temps and clock speeds, thats the only ASUS utility that I have installed on my computer. Personally I wouldnt upgrade BIOS, but thats just me.

To get the latest chipset drivers, go here. Then select Platform/nForce drivers - nForce4 AMD - your OS.
You don't need to update your BIOS. You only need to do that if a fix is listed in the updates for an issue that you're having.

Just run the drivers from the mobo CD without any upgrades for now. After a couple weeks, if you are experiencing any problems, then consider the upgrades. Same with the bios upgrades. Test the stability for a while first before you decide to upgrade.

You can if you want, it's not required. Asus just provides utilities, Ai booster, etc - nVidia provides the actual chipset drivers. And yes, get the drivers from nvidia.com, those updates are there for a reason.
