4x512 dual channel -- slower?
i just read on another post here that running 2GB dual channel (4x512MB), filling up all the slots, will cause the memory to run at 333 instead of 400 MHz?
is that true? i'm running that now (the rest of the gear is in my sig), and it seems quicker than when i started it out with just 1GB of 2x512MB. yes, they are matched pairs, and in the proper socket locations, meaning A1, B1 and A2, B2. |

The RAM will run synchronised with the CPU, unless you overclock it. Then it becomes asynchronous.

That only applies to certain chipsets - notably Via. You have to read the other threads in proper context.
