Wireless keyboard lockup at login
Hi.,
I’m having problems with wireless keyboard since I upgraded my mobo. I must stress that at all times a wired keyboard and mouse worked, and continue to work. I had a OEM PS/2 wireless keyboard and mouse with ORTEK drivers, and after the upgrade (from KT7A to A7V600-X) I found it worked the first time I connected it, then it became sporadic, then not at all no matter what I tried. The symptoms were: - If I held DEL the keyboard worked fine in the BIOS menu. - On the windows login screen, if I hit return (to log in), both keyboard and mouse locked up. Then I had to reset/restart. - On the windows log in screen, if I logged in using just the mouse (which worked) then: o Everything worked ok using just the mouse. o If I checked the Device Manager, no keyboard was listed. o The moment I touched the keyboard, both the keyboard and mouse would lock up. From what I could tell (by running apps in the background while touching the keyboard), the cpu/OS were still running fine. So I dug about on the internet, upgraded to the latest BIOS (now running a7v6x009.awd), changed the batteries and no difference. Finally I thought (somewhat unconvinced) that the wireless keyboard was broken, so I went out and bought a Belkin wireless keyboard and mouse. I had a similar but different problem. This time: - The keyboard worked again getting into and round the BIOS menu. - After a cold start, at the login screen, using the keyboard again caused the mouse and keyboard to lock up. - After a reset, using the keyboard at the login screen everything worked fine! Until today (two days after discarding the box and receipt), when after leaving my PC on for a few days, the Belkin keyboard and mouse don’t work no matter what I do. It seems the receiver has died, as I get no LED activity when I hit the ‘Connect’ button. Can anyone suggest what on earth is happening here? Today I went out and bought two PS/2 extension leads. Please don’t let me be defeated! Spec: Cpu: 1.2GHz AMD Mobo: A7V600-X REV 1.xx Ram: 512 Graphics: ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 SERIES OS: Windows 2000 Onboard everything else, plenty of HD space. Thanks in advance, S. |

Not trying to be a smartaleck, but I think you will find if you buy a Logitech or Microsoft wireless kit, it will work.

You get what you pay for. I tried an Ortek once and it sucked. The mouse kept going to sleep and wouldn't wake up.

Same problem with logitech
Funulator, I have exactly the same problem as you. and I have a Logitech keyboard. It's clear that the problem is not the keyboard, seems that came from the motherboard(A7V600-X) and windows XP.
I'm searching the web, there are many people with this problem but nobody seems to fix it. (some people updating bios fixed, but others not). I have Logitech Cordless Desktop - Express (PS/2) And the Bios is 1009 version (a7v6x009.awd). And I don't fixed yet. Always the same, sometimes the PC find the Keyboard, others no, I don't know why.. Seems that is better work with USB keyboard, but i'm not sure. Hope we finally find a solution |
