strange packard bell MS mouse problem
strange looping problem....I dont know when it started so heres what i know...
turn on the pc, monitor stays in standby and pc does not boot. press all the keys on the keyboard, the power button nothing happens until you press any button on or move the mouse.you get a beep and it starts up.the beep is not from the onboard speaker, (which seems to me as if the pc isnt shutdown properly.) the pc then boots up but the mouse light goes out and as windows is loading the mouse light goes on for a few seconds and off again, then the welcome screen appears and now the mouse will not work until.... you press the power button for 10 seconds or so to shut down and then restart(turn on) the pc.after that the pc works fine again until you shut the pc down and it goes back to the top of this page in a loop thats making my head spin! 4 year old packard bell imedia ???(not sure at the moment) microsoft wheel mouse optical plugged into PS/2 port PB keyboard plugged into USB port windows XP Pro with fairly recent updates.(will be my next move to update). the D-link bluetooth dongle seems to be running after the pc has be shutdown and the mouse light stays on (which is normal) on the PB site i found a suggestion to switch off USB legacy devices in the Bios, which didnt help. anyone got an idea?
