NEC 3520A recognized as CD Drive when blank media is inserted.
I recently installed an NEC 3520A DVD Burner inside my computer. It replaced a Sony CD-RW, which was set to slave. I also set the NEC to slave. I have updated firmware. What could be causing this?
Edit: Any piece of media makes Windows think this is a CD-ROM. Last edited by tterrag46; 09-12-2005 at 07:41 PM. |

You made me look at mine. I never had paid any attention to that since I always view my directories in Detials view. My burner also shows as a "CD" with blank media in it. I have to assume that since it's blank, Windows doesn't know what to make of it. Since everything works just fine, I don't think I'll worry about it.

That's...interesting...
It still doesn't burn, though. The blank DVD's act like CD's: they max out capacity wise at 700MB. I'm going to try burning a file again, after a restart. |

Got it working. The first disc in the group of blank ones I had was messed up. Second one appears to work fine, I'm burning 2GB of data onto it now.
Update coming soon. |
