Corrupt Video on boot

I've recently put together a new pc from various parts. For some dumb reason I put a cpu plate that came with the antec case in when I didn't need to. It touched the back of the memory solder pins and bent a few. I'm fairly certain that something was messed up bad. At first the machin wouldn't boot, and I figured it must be grounded somewhere after a bunch of troubleshooting. I pulled the mobo out of the case and it booted, but now I have corrupt video. Even the splash screen is corrupt. You can kinda make it out but it's pretty bad. Both the memory and the mobo have been rma'ed and still I have the same problem. You might think it would be the graphics card, but a really old pci card has the same problem and has been confirmed to work in a newer machine. I don't really have another comp with ddr2 240 pin ram slots to test the ram, and there's no way I can test the newer graphics card as it's pci-express. Any ideas anyone as to what the problem could be? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Welcome to PCMechanic, coldfriction!

Please post the complete specs of this computer including the brand and wattage of your PSU. It sounds to me like the video controller in the motherboard chipset is bad, or the PSU is not powerful enough even to maintain decent video. My bets are on a weak PSU since you've already RMA'd the motherboard once.

I doubt it's the PSU

As far as teh psu goes it's got an antec 550w unit in it. My guess is the mobo is still bad. Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have all hte specs here with me so I can't really say.
