So you need PC133 SDRAM.
http://www.crucial.com/store/listmod...SDRAM%2C+PC133 These prices seem high tho, shop around.

It really helps us to help you if you post the system specs and if it's a home built or name brand computer.
PC133 SDRAM is 168 pins. If this is for a name brand computer you may need to get it from Crucial to be sure it'll work in the computer. If this is a home built computer you still need to know if the motherboard is finicky about the brand of RAM you use. Cricket

You're running WinXP Pro on only 128MB of RAM? Boy, the hard drive must be working overtime with all the swap file action that system is seeing.
I "think" HP computers just use regular SDRAM, not proprietary stuff. The best bet would be to go to Crucial.com and use the memory configurator to get the right RAM for that HP. Consider increasing the RAM to 512MB so that WinXP Pro will work from RAM and not from the swap file. It'll make a big difference in performance. Cricket

Use the link to crucial supplied above, they lead you through to your RAM directly - especially if it is a name brand PC- they give you the max you can put in and the empty slots you would have available if no more ram was already added.
Check out the link to "Crucial Memory Advisor Tool" at the top of the page and the note from just below it copied below: "Note: Compatibility is guaranteed only for modules ordered using the Crucial Memory Advisor™ tool. Returned orders not placed through the Crucial Memory Advisor may be subject to a 20% restocking fee."

For a long time we've been lucky to have RAM at pretty low prices. I remember paying $150 for only 16MB of 72 pin FPM RAM (actually 2 8MB sticks at $75 each) back in 1994...I upgraded so my computer had 32MB total. When 512MB SDRAM sticks of RAM first became available they probably cost over $400 each. Cricket

Yup, they did, because that's when I bought mine
![]() You're just going to have to pay if you want to keep using an old computer, otherwise upgrade... but that'll cost you considerably more methinks |

Unless your motherboard is one of those weird ones that have sockets for SDRAM and DDR RAM. If this is the case then you can only run one type of RAM at a time, not both. Cricket
