swapped cpus, puter shut down 3 times with error

i swapped out my xp 2400+ and put in a 3200+ today , 3 times the comp has given me a blue screen with white letters and shut down, the error says this

*** stop:0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0xBF837815,0xF7AAEA68,0x00000000)

*** win32k.sys-address BF837815 base at BF800000,Datestamp 422511a2

beginning dump of physical memory

physical memory dump complete

i checked in bios the bus says 200, it was 133 b4 so i think this is good, the cpu is listed in device manager, and the temp is 113 , alot cooler than the 125 the 2400+ was running with the stock hs/fan it came with ............i got this dynatron from newegg , the cpu i got from buyaib, with no packaging really....................been on long enuff now for me to do this , holding my fingers here

At what point does the system blue screen? Does the bios recognise the new, correct CPU?

If you can't boot into XP, a repair install may be required after this hardware change. Do this by booting from your XP cd.

mmmm, im starting to think this is a strange coincedence, after i installed the new cpu it booted up fine, i wanted to see what fps improvement it made in a game i play , wwiionline, so i went to go into the game and it downloaded an update patch, well it booted me out of the game with some kind of error, then i had to reboot 3 times when the computer gave me an error, i just tried the game again and it ctd, im reloading video drivers now see what happens, i think it may be the game screwing with the comp but im not sure ,lol

welp i reloaded my video drivers , went to start the game , got blue screen , only this time it said

page fault in non paged file

so i rebbot, wont load xp, blue screen , this time it says

problem seems to be caused by this file win32k.sys

so i reboot, windows loads but when i click ie i get blue screen , this time it says

irql not less or equal

so i reboot, here i am , i noticed now in the start up tab there is anew entry

dumprep 0-k....................im also getting error reports and kicked out of ie, not sure what to do at this point, anyone know what these errors mean?

I see a RAM problem. Memtest. Also, what rated speed is your RAM? Depending on your BIOS, it could be that the faster CPU is overclocking the RAM passed it's manufactured speed, therefore causing corruption and/or the error message that you're getting.

cpu frequency multiple setting-options are auto or menu , its on auto as it was b4

cpu frequency multiple -its greyed out , but its 11.0x now, it wasnt that b4 , it was something like 7.0/something , cant remember exactly just remember the /

What brand RAM are you using?

You should test the RAM with Memtest86+...test one stick at a time.

What brand and wattage power supply are you using?

Is it a Antec SmartPower PSU? Those are the Antec PSUs that were having problems earlier.

oh nice, yes it is http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/def...spx?edc=427391

i can use it about 10 minutes b4 it reboots itself, sometimes on reboot it says "system failed memory test", sometimes it boots up fine, sometimes blue screen with error , sometimes nothing , just reboot................id hate to spend the cash on a psu to find its not but you guys are the experts, if thats the first course of action here, well second , ram test gave me no errors, how much power do you suggest and what brand? no way of testing this psu?

If you had a defective CPU your computer wouldn't even boot up.

i opened up nvidia system utility, in the voltage graph, both my cpu and memory are all the way up at the red line , where i think according to this they should be down at the yellow line like everything else..................

"Voltages are also shown in the form of graphs with numerical values on top. These are as reported by the BIOS. The red line on top are the maximum value you are allowed to tinker with the yellow line being the default value. NVSU has been hard coded to show green graphs for safe levels, yellow graphs to show a warning, that at that reported voltage, it is running out of recommended settings. Red graph means that you are way beyond safety limits. To get these graphs, you BIOS must support this feature."

why is this?
i wish i could post a pic of it but i dont know how

memory frequency - options are auto or by spd , its on auto
Try setting it to SPD and see if that helps.

welp heres the deal, i saw it mem test and wondered what was up, it said the mem was running 2.5-3-3-8..............i then i saw the mem in the graph in the utility showed it at the red line , and i hadnt fooled with it so i called kingston.................first off they said they no longer support running ddr 400 on this board because its not stable, we tried changing the memory frequency to by spd but it didnt change any of the settings, it was still 2.5-3-3-8, she said this is slowing the ram down, its hyper x ram designed for overclocking and it should be running at 2-3-2-6.............she had me change the cpu external frequency to 166 from 200 , that changed the ram to 2-3-3-7....................its stable now , she said i can keep this ram if i want but im losing money because im not seeing its full potential, she said the fastest ram they support on this board is ddr333 , which has a timing of 2.5-3-3-6.........so seeing that its at 2-3-3-7 now, this is actually a lower cs than the chip she suggested would be, if i dont have any more stability porblems im going to keep what i have.......................im going to call amd however cause im wondering if by lowering the cpu external frequency in bios , i lose any cpu performance.....................which btw was 133 with the 2400+, thats why i wasnt having a problem b4...........................and the mem is now down to the yellow bar in nvidia system utility, where it should be

so i can either leave it the way it is now

3200+ at 166mhz ddr400 timing 2-3-3-7 (payed $154)

or get the ddr333 chip she suggested

3200+ at 200mhz timing 2.5-3-3-6 ($101, save $53)

the performance is more important to me than the cash, then theres the 485 w enermax thats on the way cuz i thought it was a psu issue, as did amd.......................should i return it , or put it in and put the 400w antec smartpower on ebay..............mmmmmmm

bueller? im starting to think im talking to myself here, anyways.............

apparently the a7n8x board and kingston hyper x ddr 400 is a finicky situation from what ive read and been told .................i called asus and was able to get into the bios settings for the ram, i set it at its advertised timing 2-3-2-6, but for some reason i can only go 182 mhz on the cpu, anything over that it bumps the voltage up from 2.6 to 2.7 and the system becomes unstable........
