Who makes the Best RAM

I am about to purchase a PC and was wondering who makes the best RAM as well as who makes the worst. eg - Ultra, Giel etc.

I buy Corsair, Kingston, and Crucial brands. Haven't had any problems with any of them. I did have some issues with PNY - but that was back in the SDram days, so I have no clue what their DDR is like.

I have always heard good things about Corsair, Crucial, Geil, Kingston and Mushkin. I only have personal experience with Crucial and Kingston and both have been great. The above are the only brands I recommend to people for RAM, usually if they just want to add some to their Dell, HP, ect I recommend Crucial.

The best thing to do is....

When you settle on the mother board you plan to buy.....Check there web site for the brands of recomended ram...Then base your decision on what you find....some brands wont be as compatable as others in certain boards so it helps to pick a board first

Matts list is the same as mine... they're the only brands you really need consider IMHO, along with OCZ

I've been sticking with Corsair and Crucial lately - I used to use a lot of Kingston but it seems to have a higher defect rate so I've backed off.

I used to say kingston only for cost:value but many others are as competitive now... I dont fear many brands as the only I have had issues with is SpecTech(I think was the name) cheepo

I'd go with Corsair (get their value line for best price) or OCZ (same here)

Strange you had issues with Spectech - it's a division of Micron (as is Crucial) and I used to use a LOT of it back in the SDRAM days. Never had one DOA or go bad, maybe you just had a compatibility issue?

Well I cant totally blame the SpecTech... The system had other issues and one point and it may have been causality of war. Ultimatley it was the only place that needed replaced however.
