New Ram not working

Hey Guys,

Previously i had a 512mb stick of RAM installed on my system (amd athlon xp 3000+, 80gig) and my pc was running fine. I purchased 1GB of ram the a while back, see here: MY NEW RAM. If you click here you can see the specifications of my mobo, which is a Asus A7V600-X.

I sent back my 1GB of ram deaming it to be faulty. They tested it and said it was in-fact not faulty and was running fine, then they asked for my mobo information, and then they replied with:

Quote:
Should be compatible then. We'll send you a replacement that will work.
I received the new ram today and it still doesn't work and it gives all the same errors as last time (stated below).

I installed the 1GB of ram and i checked on an app called cpuz and it detected it as a 4MB ram slot, here are 2 screenshots of cpu-z, each showing the information in slot1 and slot2:

Also, right clicking my computer said i still only had 512 ram though. Then i installed a program called Belarc Advisor and it said the slot my new ram was in, was in-fact empty. I then took out my 512 ram and ran it just with the 1GB ram and it gave me a load of BEEPS and didn't work. I am currently just running on the 512ram. As soon as i loaded my PC up after first installing the new ram, i entered to bios and it said i had 512 ram also.

On the RAM itself, there is a label that reads:

Quote:
1GB DDR PC-2700
333Mhz Module DIMM
I just tried booting it up with my 1GB ram in slot #1. After it beeped half a million times and wouldnt start the PC, i went back to my 512 ram and on load it loaded the BIOS and said:

Quote:
During the last boot-up, your system hung for an improper CPU setting.
Basically, from what people on this forum said last time, and from what the company i purchased it off of, the ram should work, but i've had 2 different ram's now and neither have worked at all.

Anyone have any ideas on what i can do? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Taz-

That RAM could very well be incompatible with your system, Its hard to tell because the e-bay seller didn't even list the brand. He has a known to work with list of a few motherboards, and yours is not on it. Says "item location UK" "shipped from usa" also--from what people said last time---this is your first post here--you must have been on a different forum. You should get a brand like corsair, kingston, crucial or ocz from a reputable source. Check the Asus site for a list of brannds that are tested and approved for that motherboard.

Dp have your motherboard manual or know the model of your motherboard, you can find the manual online. There are instruction such as remove the onbaord batery then move a jumper from pins 2 and 3 to 1 and 2 for ten seconds then put it back and then put the battery back in. It sounds confusing, but your mobo manual will describe it better and probably with a picture.

Right, but you don't have to do both. Either remove the battery for 30 minutes or so, or move the jumpers accordingly (should be described in the manual) for 2 seconds. And then move them back.

Next thing I would try is making sure the slot is clean, make sure the gold contacts are clean, no dirt, dust etc... Or try putting the new module into the 1st slot and the old one into another.
