Using DVDs as CDs
I wanted to know if i could use DVDs to store music, video, photos, important documents just like CDs. That way i can decide on whether or not i should get a DVD burner.

Yep, you can. If you still have your doubts, think about how software and games now come on discs, supporting the fact that DVDs can hold ANY kind of file that you can throw at it.

You certainly can - look at the DVD as a 4+ gb storage device. It can only be read in a DVD drive though, not a CD drive. Right now, single layer DVD's are the most cost effective means of data storage - over 4 gigs for less than a buck. When my CD burner dies, it's gonna be replaced with a DVD burner.
