previous external hd moved to new comp
I have a Western Digital 80 gb external harddrive usb 2.0 with all of my old music and files. I built a computer recently and tired to connect it to the new computer to put all my music and stuff on it. It reads the drive but when I try to access the files an error message comes up that says "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". Do i have to reformat this drive or can i network both computers to transfer information?
Or is this a power problem? MSI P4 Diamond Intel 640 prescott 3.2 ghz 120 gb internal hd maxtor sata 80 gb external hd western digital usb 2.0 Lite-on dvd-rw Memorex dvd-rw samsung floppy Antec truepower 2.0 550 Antec 160 case cosair 1 gb ram |

Are both machines running the same OS and does the old machine still recognize the drive and see the files?

The reason I asked about your operating systems is because you should be able to netwok the two machines and transfer your music and whatever to your new machine from the old machine.
