Question!! Can my mobo support SATA?

Hello,

My motherboard is a ASUS P4P800 Deluxe Socket 478 Intel 865PE ATX Intel Motherboard.

I just recently purchased a Seagate hard drive. I didn't know at the time about all the SATA changes occuring in the hard drive industry, but I do now.

I was wondering if my mobo supports SATA drives and where I should go to get any SATA drivers.

Also, the hard drive didn't come with any cables so I need to know where I can get some cables.

Thanks!!!

According to the ASUS website your mobo supports Sata harddrives.

The sata drivers should be on the motherboard cd.

Sata cables can be bought at any computer store.

Your motherboard should have come with two SATA cables. Mine did. And since the SATA is native to the board, you should be able to just connect it and have it recognized in the bios (if I remember correctly). Depending on your hdd's power connection and your power supply you may need an adapter to connect power to the hdd. Just make sure you only connect one power cable.

Ok, I found the cables and installed the hard drive.

How do I format and partition the drive?

Thanks!
