OCZ EL DDR400 VS Corsair XMS C2 DDR400
i want to overclock my athlon 3500 to an FSB of 230 (2.55GHz), maybe 240 after i reach that speed. i have to decide between the OCZ EL
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146889 or the Corsair XMS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145416 i want timings no loser than 2-3-3-8 and want an ideal 1:1 ratio. which memory will overclock better. thanks |

Which motherboard are you using? Chances are once you get to 230 youll want more...it always ends up that way
. If youre using a DFI UT motherboard, check out the OCZ VX or Mushkin Redline.

Epox 9NPA+ ultra, and most of the other series are way to expensive.

i've been trying to find reviews, but every time i search xms, it gives me the xms xl, pro or xpert. for OCZ i get the gold and platinum reviews.
i want to spend no more than 70 on a 512 stick of ram |

Have you looked into G. Skill memory? They come with Samsung TCCD chips and dont need the high voltage like VX or Redline. Take into consideration that memory timings dont impact A64 performance too much, so you can get away with something that will run 2.5-3-3-x at a given HTT speed. The G. Skill is known to get to 300HTT+ on 2.9V and still run at 2.5-3-3-x. Memory has come down a great deal in price...G. Skill used to be very expensive, but now the price is comparable to OCZ and Corsair performance memory.
EDIT: If you want OCZ, this is the stuff to get...right around your budget as well. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227211 Last edited by Tin; 10-16-2005 at 04:14 PM. |

do you mean normal G. Skill, like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231029 i have never heard of G. Skill, usually corsair, ocz, mushkin, and geil are the only companies that get any recognitoin. |

No...this stuff right here
. G. Skill is a relatively new comer to the memory world, but they make the best memory for OCing hands down. Corsair, Kingston, Mushkin, and GeIL are all good, but nothing comes close to G. Skill. If i was on the market for memory Id get some right now, but my system is happy with my KHX.

Save some cash and just buy a pair. Not all memory modules will always come with the same chips, and running in dual channel memory with mis-matched memory can cause some problems.
