HD Performance

I wish to replace my primary drive with a higher performance hard drive. Question: Should I opt for a 10K RPM, 8M Buffer, or a 7.2K RPM with 16M Buffer?

Hi Don Soriano,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !!

Since ATA 10K drives are pretty limited, most notably the Raptor, I'd got with a 7.2K 16MB cache drive. The Maxtor Diamond Max 10 series is a very fast drive giving the Raptor a run for it's proverbial money, even beating it in some beachmarks. Plus you get a whole lot more GB for about the same price.

HTH
