USB Mouse

I have a Logitech optical USB mouse attached to my ps/2 mouse port thru a ps/2 adapter..
I would like to know it is normal behavior for the red light under the usb mouse to be on when the power to the pc is turned off...
How is this possible ?
This is the first time that I have used a optical usb mouse so I am unsure about what a usb mouse should and should not do.......

I would like to know if there is a way to stop the USB mouse LED on the bottom from glowing in the dark when the computer is off...

I'm assuming your mouse is wired? My wireltess opticals definately all go off when their PC is off. Wireless ones stay on as long as they have batteries in them (and don't use a dock to charge) but I've never had a wired one do that. Try plugging the mouse into a USB port instead of thru the adaptor and see what happens. If the light goes off when the PC is off then somehow it's the PS/2 adaptor, which is beyond me.

That can be normal behavior - some motherboards have bios settings or jumpers to enable wake on keyboard press or mouse use. Keep using the PS/2 port - you can't use it for anything else.

Talking

Thank for the info.
I am going to wrap the mouse in a towel at night because the red LED look too much like a glowing ember in the dark ...

I have a Chaintech 7VIF4 mobo...

I guess I enable something on the mobo or the BIOS that I shouldn't have....

You can always turn the computer completely off at the power source.

Turning off the power to the surge protector is not a option for me. I need protection against thunderstorms and lightning that may occur during the night when I am asleep or during the day when I am not at home....

Turning off the surge protector is the BEST way to isolate the equipment - but if your power supply has a switch on the back, just use that.
