Yes you can add one; they come in handy while doing diagnostics etc; I would recomend having a floppy drive in your computer or have one which you can install when you need to use it.

You can usually add one if you feel more comfortable having one, but many modern utilities can be booted from CDs or USB drives as well.

In terms of booting/installing the OS, bootdisks are no longer necessary and you can go straight from the CD.

I still install them. As mentioned, you still need them for diagnostics. Some drive imaging / cloning software require one. And, if the OS needs additional drivers, one is usually required to load them. Not to mention I still think that's the best way to update the BIOS.

I still install a floppy drive in all of my builds. I find them very useful for the same reasons TwoRails mentioned.

Sounds good to me thanks for the answer . Guess it would depend if there was an opening in the case for them though

Most new motherboards support booting from USB, so a USB floppy drive in your toolkit would be something good to have if you don't install floppy drives in the computers.

I haven't had a floppy for a few years and have never missed it. I do have a boot CD with utilities on it. I also have a USB floppy that came with a laptop but other than hooking it up once to see if it works I've never needed it.
